Blog Post 05: The YOUNG AGE

(PCSD)

The age range of 24-25 years is another delicate age group, when one completes the studies, and get prepared to step in the outside world to face the real life challenges. The mindset required to fit in the competitive world and to face the challenges is different and it goes on developing and changing as one gets matured by age & experience. Education gets completed but securing a job sometimes gets delayed and the first struggle begins at this junction itself

Mostly after getting a MBA degree or any other higher education, students get placed through campus placements in reputed companies with a good salary package. Our friends too get placed, but unfortunately, we don’t get selected or placed in any company for whatever reasons. Now the struggle begins. Mind starts bowing the seeds of despair. The friends who used to spend all the day and night with us suddenly get busy & unavailable. After some period, being jobless, the family & the relatives start taunting with sarcasm. Sometimes conditions are like, the parents take loan for studies with an expectation that after getting the degree, the salary can easily help to repay the loan amount. But now because of the joblessness, there entire financial planning gets disturbed. As a result one starts to avoid facing them. Inspite of being qualified, one is not able to figure out the reason behind not securing a job and slowly he/she start loosing themselves in figuring out the answer. He/She are not able to think rationally. The mind and the brain gets surrounded by negative thoughts and then they get provoked to take some wrong step as a victim of depression. This is called Post Commencement Stress Disorder (PCSD).  If one does’nt have a mindset to do a job then he/she thinks of doing any business. Today's millennial generation opt for start-ups. Now due to a lot of competition, the uncertainties involved etc many startups do fail. This failure as a result may lead to depression. The main reason involved behind all this is, lack of patience and lot of expectations regarding instant results and profits.

According to Times of India, 2700 people have committed suicide due to unemployment in 2018, which means approx.. 7 per day. If this is the situation of highly qualified youth, then the scenario regarding underqualified youth would be beyond imagination. Everybody needs to think rationally that if one has the ability & intellect to get the higher education, then certainly they have the ability in them to use that education & intellect in their work experience too. Only thing here to understand is anything & everything requires time and patience to let it happen and work successfully. Today's generation expect and believe only in fast track results. Most of the youth these days plan to work rigorously till 40 years of age and then retire. But they don’t understand that if they stay fit till the age of 40, only then the life can be enjoyed fulfilling all the desires with family & friends together. Of course, it is necessary to work hard in the young age but it is equally important to take care of one’s physical & mental health. Elderly, experienced people always say that “A person achieves only what he deserves & only at proper time, neither more, nor less than the requirement, neither before, nor after the speculated time".If one earns more than what is requires or before the deserving time, it goes away in medication due to health issues or any other heavy economic loss etc. That is why “PATIENCE” is the key to success in life.

Further, one gets the desired job. But the work environment, the culture, the BOSS, the colleagues, office politics etc also stand responsible for maintaining a healthy mindset and mental condition. The first job of anybody’s life always proves to be a good teacher. It helps to establish a strong foundation in the field of work one is into. It also helps to mould one’s mental state. If luck favours, one can get good allies, good bosses who can help to add up in their experience. But it also happens that due to bad experience at the first job, one can lose the confidence. The passion and enthusiasm with which one wishes to work, the exact opposite experience or the treatment, can have adverse effect on their morale resulting in to loss of confidence to do that work. Mistakes are often pointed out in his/her work. If anybody is a newly joined candidate, then most of times he/she are held responsible for the faults of others and he/she are unable to say anything in the whirl of saving their job. He/she can become a victim of PEER PRESSURE. When a new candidate is recruited in the team, then those who are already in the team develop a kind of insecurity. This gives birth to the office politics. Work credit is taken by another colleague.  Bosses do illogical bossing.  All of these things unknowingly affect the mental state. If one fails to maintain balance, they can move slowly towards depression.
